Next Thursday, June 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Conference Hall of the University of Salento will be held the conference “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine – From Innovations to Clinical Practice”, an event promoted by the Salento Biomedical District, to which Inmatica is adhering, and organized by the University of Salento and the Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies of the Italian Institute of Technology, under the sponsorship of the Local Health Authority of Lecce.
The event, whose agenda can be obtained here, covers the most innovative aspects of Artificial Intelligence in medicine and represents a moment of strategic discussion between the academic, healthcare and technological worlds to explore the frontiers of A.I. in this field, analyzing the different opportunities for implementation in daily clinical practice. Special attention will be paid to diagnostic imaging and cancer screening, predictive medicine and therapeutic personalization, telemedicine and remote patient monitoring, medical Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable devices.
Inmatica, through the talk of fellow colleague Enrico Junior Schioppa, will be a lead participant within the lineup of speeches, thus having the prestigious opportunity to present to the audience and all stakeholders in the field the two main lines of research and development in the field of A.I. in medicine on which its activities of an innovative nature have been mainly focused in recent years, namely “OneHealth” and “brain-machine” interfaces.
The “OneHealth” perspective promotes an integrated approach to health, which considers human well-being closely linked to the protection of the environment, wildlife, flora and critical resources such as water and air. In this area, Inmatica is engaged in the creation of an innovative platform for acquiring data from wearable sensors, computer vision systems and advanced environmental sensors. These data are then processed through A.I. models to enable intelligent tools, including predictive models for health and sports and digital twins of the person.
In the field of brain-machine interfaces, Inmatica works in partnership with Corticale Srl, a Genoa-based spin-off of IIT, which specializes in the production of the world’s highest electrode density implantable brain probe, SiNAPS, Simultaneous Neural Recording Active Pixel Sensor technology. As part of the collaboration, Inmatica plays two key roles: the development of the software system for the acquisition, processing, analysis and persistence of high throughput data generated by brain implants, and the realization of A.I. models for the analysis and interpretation of neural activity, with the goal of decoding cognitive processes. This technological synergy opens up high-impact clinical application scenarios, laying the groundwork for innovative solutions in the treatment of severe neurological disorders.
Inmatica would like to thank the University of Salento, the Salento Biomedical District, the Italian Institute of Technological and the Lecce ASL for the precious opportunity, confirming and renewing its commitment to full collaboration in the development of innovative cutting-edge solutions in healthcare of great benefit to citizens and their health.
