Distributed fiber optic sensors enable continuous, precise, and distributed monitoring of temperature and humidity across the entire monitored area. Using Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) technology, they detect changes and anomalies in real time, supporting monitoring, prevention, and resource optimization.
The system consists of two main components:
- Distributed Fiber Optic Sensor: A thin glass fiber that acts both as the sensing element and as the data transmission medium. It can extend over tens of kilometers, enabling continuous monitoring across very large areas.
- Interrogator: A device that acquires the data collected by the distributed fiber optic sensor, processes it, and transmits it to the software platform for visualization and analysis.
The sensor is easy to install and only needs to be deployed once. Once the fiber optic cable is in place, the system provides continuous long-term monitoring without requiring any further invasive interventions. The sensor is designed to be robust and durable, ensuring reliable performance over time.
The collected data is displayed through a dedicated software platform that allows users to monitor conditions in real time and receive automatic alerts whenever critical events or anomalies occur. For example, the system can detect water leaks and accurately pinpoint their exact location.
