IoT and AI in Sport & Health

The project aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT) system to acquire and analyse data from wearable sensors for the purpose of monitoring human health in medical applications and athletic performance in sports applications.

The data is also used to train Artificial Intelligence (AI) engines to generate a Digital Twin ( DT) of the person (patient or athlete), which allows the treating physician to continuously monitor the health status and the athletic trainer to continuously monitor the athlete’s performance, including the possibility of making probabilistic predictions on the occurrence of specific events (e.g. risk of hospitalisation or risk of injury).

The project is developed in collaboration with the UniSalento Department of Innovation Engineering.
