Inmatica, in collaboration with prestigious European partners including CERN in Geneva, has formally responded to the important EIC European Innovation Council-PathFinder 2023 call for proposals, which aims to fund project ideas based on new cutting-edge and ‘disruptive’ technologies.

The proposal introduces WALDO (WAter Leak Detection Outfit), a highly sensitive relative humidity detector that can be installed along water pipes over many hundreds of kilometres.

WALDO is based on Distributed Fiber Optic Sensors (DFOS) technology, which allows continuous measurement along the entire length of a fibre optic cable.

The project proposal, to which Inmatica contributed, aims to develop an innovative approach to tackle the global problem of water loss in Europe’s public water distribution networks, which waste an average of at least 30% of drinking water. The proposal was awarded the prestigious Seal of Excellence.
